Proteins

Hello guys~ and welcome to my second post!! Today I am going to discuss about ( as you can see on the tittle page) Proteins!! You guys of course know what protein is right? Protein is one of the substances that we needed in our body. It helps us to grow and replace dead cells. You must wonder where do we get those proteins from. Mostly we got the from what we consume just like other substances. What food that contains protein you asks? Food such as meat, seafood, eggs and etc. Just look at the picture below.

Even so, the meaning of Protein is not just that, protein is a large molecules that contains a long chain of amino acids ( 20 types ) or as we know it the monomer of protein. For those who doesn't understand what a monomer is, its just basically a single molecule. Inside a protein there are some important elements that you should know and those are Carbon,Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen and Sulfur. Here is the structure of a protein.
you should remember that the protein is divided into groups as you see above which gives us the differences of protein than the other structures because it contains the R-group. What is the R-group? The R-group is the amino acid side chain. what is a peptide bond?peptide bond is a chemical bond formed between two molecules when the carboxyl group of one molecule reacts with the amino group of the other molecule, releasing a molecule of water (H2O).Polypeptides are chains of amino acids. Proteins are made up of one or more polypeptide molecules. The amino acids are linked covalently by peptide bonds. the other thing about it is that the hydrogen is needed to neutralize the bonding. now Protein is made up of 4 structures and that is Tertiary, Secondary, Primary , and Quaternary.
